Destructive Fire Threatens Magnolia Oil Station
Last Friday morning a fire broke out at the Magnolia oil station causing fear of major destruction. Two north tanks and two south tanks were spared explosions due to light wind and swift response by volunteers and a switch crew. A gasoline car was moved to safety as flames consumed the station interior and a nearby box car with barrels of gas burned. Local spectators watched intently, some keeping a safe distance while others approached the scene.

Alamogordo representatives from the Commercial Club joined peers from Tularosa and nearby towns for a Carrizozo meeting on good roads. They discussed diverting tourist traffic via routes north to Carrizozo south through Alamogordo to El Paso, and noted poor maintenance on the road segment between here and Carrizozo. Midwest Refining strikes 1140 barrel well in Farmington
Well No 12 of Midwest Refining Company on the Hogback dome came in at 12 30 today with a flow of 1140 barrels. The top of the oil sand was found at 774 feet and the drill went two feet into the sand. The well lies 90 feet north of the discovery well No 1 and the oil is the same high grade as the others. It is being run into tankage for a 12 hour test.
