Harvest Supper Announcement and Local Visits in Westfield

Special Correspondence notes visitors from Omaha and Riverside. George Henke and family stayed with Ray Walch, Laura Freeman visited Joe Caskey relatives, and Gladys Beaubien travels to Riverside to see Margré Sullivan. Harvest Supper at Congregational Church set for September 30 from 5 to 7:30 with prices 1.75 for adults, 1.00 for ages 4–10, and free under 3. Mrs. Welch visited Esther Moffatt and Fern Boyd.

Sioux Center opens year round indoor pool program

A $350000 indoor pool at Sioux Center is in operation since September 13 and was formally dedicated Saturday night. It will offer public swimming Mondays and Wednesdays 6 to 10 pm and Saturdays 10 am to 10 pm.

Northwestern Bell pays Plymouth County operating property tax

A Northwestern Bell Telephone Company payment totaling 71 805 21 was mailed September 50 to the County Treasurer as the second half of the Plymouth County operating property tax. The year total for the county reached 143 610 22 with the company’s statewide operating property taxes at 11 890 197 67, up 63 percent from five years ago. The firm pays taxes in all 99 Iowa counties.

Savings bonds sales climb across Iowa counties

Savings bonds scores for August show Plymouth county at $42,665 and eight month total $344,852, 86 percent of its 1971 quota. Warren, Clarke, Ringgold, Mahaska, Greene and Jefferson also topped targets, while statewide August sales reached $7,612,476, up over 20 percent from last year and eight month state total $59,609,964. Local county figures include Sioux, Woodbury, Cherokee, Lyon with respective totals and percentages. When fire strikes, seconds count.
