Local families share Thursday supper in Ponca

Hinton and the Buryanek families along with Mr and Mrs Don Deideker and the Deideker families hosted Thursday night supper in Ponca Nebraska. Also joining were Mr and Mrs Leonard Buryanek and their family and Mr and Mrs Frank Buryanek and their kin.

Plymouth Extension Council Members Visit Iowa State

Eleven Plymouth County Extension Council members and wives plus Director Lyle Mackey visited Iowa State University on August 27 to view Home Economies Food Processing Agriculture and a bus tour of ISU facilities. The trip aimed to deepen understanding of university resources and their role in Extension programming.

Surprise 60th for Williams Couple Honors Anniversary

About 40 friends hosted a surprise party for Mr. and Mrs. N. J. Williams to mark their 19th wedding anniversary. Also noted are a birth to Mr. and Mrs. W. D. King on Sept 13, a son to Mr. and Mrs. E. H. Youngstrom on Sept 15, and Dr. G. W. Koch of Akron elected vice president of the Plymouth County Medical Association for the coming year.

Town Council Proceedings August 19 1968 Meeting

Regular session opened by Mayor John H Earnest with six councilors present. The treasurer and clerk reports were approved by a ye a and nay vote with all members voting yea. Minutes of the previous meeting were approved by all ayes. Bills totaling thousands of dollars including disposal plant work and various city services were approved and paid. The meeting adjourned after routine approvals.

James Oliver Lyttle Performs at Akron High Assembly

On September 11 Akron Community High School hosted James Oliver Lyttle for a 9:00 assembly. Lyttle, a traveling religious drama performer born in Ohio and raised near Pittsburgh, now based in Hollywood, delivered a well received show that students described as highly enjoyable and enlightening about judging others for oneself.

Library Club Holds First Meeting at Home

The Library Club met Monday September 9 at Joy Seipp's home. Music of Today featured an article The New Thing by Marlys Hitzemasin. Darlys Willer reviewed two new library books The New Sound Yest and Ballads Blues and the Big Beat. New officers for 68-69 were Patty Robson president Suzanne Caskey vice president Joy Seipp secretary treasurer Linda Hitzermann reporter and Darlyl Willer historian. Marlys and Darlys organized games. Lunch was served by Joy.

Raider Review Describes FHA Bazaar Plans and New Members

The FHA held its first meeting on August 28 to discuss a bazaar in November in the auditorium. Each member must make at least two items. New class mothers include Mrs Arden Johnson Mrs Elmer Heeren and Mrs Ted Willer. Initiation for new members is planned and the next meeting is October 7 with Mrs Russell Anderson demonstrating ceramics.

Class meetings plan for upcoming homecoming events

Last Wednesday grades 9 through 12 held class meetings to organize homecoming activities. Committees were chosen to select a float theme a building site and a clean up crew. Students will be busy during homecoming week preparing a public performance.

First Grade and Second Grade Reports Highlight New Beginnings

The 1 B class lists thirteen girls and boys with Mrs. Eggleston as teacher. They practice counting, writing lower case letters, and color word recognition while exploring reading materials and new art and music activities. Second graders report 23 pupils, 12 girls and 11 boys, focusing on vowel sounds, writing punctuation, and improved math basics including greater or less than symbols. September birthdays are Roger Otten, Robert Jane, and Gregg Kleime.

Special Education Class Progress Report

The Special Education Goal enrolls eight students eight pupils include three boys and five girls. Five pupils from last year were promoted. Subjects covered include Reading Phonics English Arithmetic Social Studies Health Art Music and Penmanship. New Reading and New Math Workbooks are used. The Craft Clogs are ready to paint doovetops made by pupils. Health Circs are making booklets.

A Pace to the Future with the Jaycees

The Akron Jaycees urge young men to join and attend a meeting to promote better leadership and a stronger community. The President, John Ziniel, emphasizes civic duty and service as core Jaycee aims.
