Enrollment Rise Noted in Akron Public Schools

Akron Public Schools opened the 1962-53 term with 466 students, up 31 from last year. Kindergarten led gains with 61 pupils, while Junior High held steady at 103 and Senior High fell slightly to 106 due to dropouts.

Final Ball Game Friday Evening in Akron

Baseball fans are urged to attend the final Akron versus Sioux Center game Friday evening. Sioux Center, 29-2, seeks to preserve its strong record while Akron hopes to avenge a 6 to 3 loss on July 18. An "Appreciation Night" is urged to boost attendance and support for a possible team next year.

Westfield Church Wedding A Pretty Autumn Affair

Pretty Wedding Solemnized at Rural Church

Miss Lorraine Utesch and Judson McDougall Jr. wed at St. Pauls Lutheran in Johnson township on August 29, 1952, in a candlelit double ring ceremony. Attendants, music, and a reception followed for about 200 guests. The bride, a LeMars High School alumna, and the groom, a Westmar College student, plan to live in LeMars after a ten day honeymoon through the Black Hills.

Akron Nine Tops Primghar In Tight Baseball Tilt

Akron defeated Primghar 5 to 1 in a closely played game led by Morey Blum on the mound for Akron. Primghar capitalized early with hits but could muster only three scattered singles as Akron pulled away with a four run first inning and added a third inning score to seal the win at home.
