Special Education Class Shares Mexico Study

Fifth and sixth grade students have been busy this month exploring engines. They studied types including piston engines and various domestic engines, applying hands on observations and discussions to understand how engines convert fuel into motion.

The class plans a science unit on earth atmosphere with lessons on lithosphere and other spheres and cloud types. Students announce 25 new puppies and report a mysterious disappearance solved by removing a large nutfish from the aquarium.

Campfire Girls Candy Drive to Boost 1967 Camp Plans

Campfire Girls begin door to door candy sales Tuesday November 26 1986 with 140000 boxes of parity distributed to Hawkeye Council groups headquartered in Des Moines. Proceeds fund Camp Hates for 1967 season, camp equipment, girl programs and year round activities. Marthe Weshingtor associates chocolate sells for 1.00 a box. many will earn to Camp Hunts. Schools report near half a million students can borrow under National Defense Student Loan program for 1987 academic year with $179 million in federal funds covering 90 percent of loans.

Akron Country Club plans new golf course next year

The Akron Country Club arranged for a new golf course to open next year after leasing a 20 acre tract northeast of Riverside Cemetery for ten years. Pleasant weather and a good corn crop outlook accompanied the report. Akron Red Cross donated 200 to the national Red Cross. Local business activity included The Big Sioux Gravel Co. employing five or six workers.
