The group also presented a program at Regal Manors Nursing Home on Oct 5 with students from local schools and a sing along for residents. The district meeting on Oct 7 featured leaders from Canton Vermillion Spearfish and Jefferson. A cancer gift donated by Bernadette Bernard was won by Emma Giles and the decor featured buddy poppy centerpieces.
Union County pork producers announce Porkfest 2 a nationwide month long promotion. Willie Huebner, president, says local efforts back a major national ad campaign reaching 96,205,485 metropolitan households. Frigidaire dealers join with the SD Pork Producers Council offering prizes in October.
Mr and Mrs Darwyn Klemme of Akron announce the engagement of their daughter Lynette to Howard Altena son of Mr and Mrs Lewis Altena of Doon Iowa. Wedding plans are being made for November 30.

The Plains Area Mental Health Center offers services for all ages with problems in living. Monday afternoon 1 5 pm Dr Howard H Marty attends at Akron Hospital for counseling and family consultations. Referrals come from doctors attorneys pastors school personnel and courts.
