Akron man named Plymouth County Champion Pork Producer
Arval Jurgensen of Akron Iowa has been named Plymouth County Champion Pork Producer in the National Champion Pork Producers Contest sponsored by Farmers Hybrid Hogs of Hampton. His record shows 155 pigs from 18 sows, an average 8.61 pigs per litter and a daily gain of 1.14 pounds from birth to market. A personalized engraved plaque was presented at the Champion's Recognition Dinner on the Iowa State College Campus in Ames.

Lester Schultz of Merrill Iowa has retained the County Championship by competing again. Plymouth County now boasts two Champion Pork Producers as records from Plymouth were considered for this year's Area Contest. The long running series allows County Champions to enter annually for the Area title. The Scattered 4-H Club held its November 9 meeting at Jean Waterbury's home with Garry Wolfe joining and plans to buy two 7 in LHS.
