Mrs Henry Collmann hosts Jim Moller and grandparents for supper as Jim joins other relatives visiting in Iowa Nebraska and Minnesota. Gary A Moller Ken Johnson Terry Edmonds and more arrive for birthdays and get togethers while clubs meet and residents share meals cards and singing.
Westfield News notes Mr and Mrs Ed Nelson returned from a five week trip to New York Massachusetts and Connecticut. The Westfield Congregational Church Ladies Aid holds a regular meeting Thursday at 2 pm with hostesses Pauline Lias and Evelyn Banks. Funeral attendance for Mrs C D Mitchell in Jefferson Iowa on November 11 included Mr and Mrs Lowell Morehead. George Bern returns home after a spell at Sioux Falls Veterans Hospital. Eva Knapp thanks relatives for get well cards and visits at St Joseph Hospital Sioux City. Ed Nelson hosted dinner with Lenna Moe. Ron Trude family were dinner guests at William Donnell’s Sioux City home. Plymouth County Right to Life meets Monday 7 30 pm at Floyd Valley Hospital Le Mars transport line 568 2421. Sunday visitors at George Bern’s included Frank Welch and Tom Vollmer. Westfield girls basketball schedule lists November 22 North Junior at Sioux City November 25 Boyden Hall two games here. Boys basketball plays Akron at Westfield on November 26 with two games. Westfield Community School dismisses at 2 15 pm November 27 for Thanksgiving. The Good Lord intended us to listen more than we talk concluding with a proverb about ears.
The Westfield P T C will hold a meeting at 8 o'clock on Wednesday November 20 in the school gym. Future meetings are scheduled for the third Wednesday of each month.
Plymouth county district court granted a dissolution of marriage for William R. Trowbridge 27 of Westfield and Ruth Ann Hanssen Trowbridge 26 of Westfield before Judge C F Stilwill. The couple, married at Pomeroy on June 10 1967, have no children.
The FFA and FHA play is rescheduled to Monday November 25 at 8 p.m. due to Thanksgiving services at local churches on Thursday November 27. The change avoids weekend conflicts and keeps the event on a weekday evening.
The second production of the 1974 75 season will be presented on Friday and Saturday December 6 and 7 when the Old Creamery Theatre players will guest on our stage. Watch this column for more information next week.
A boy named Brett Justin Susemihl was born November 6 1974 at Floyd Valley Hospital Le Mars weighing 7 pounds 13 ounces to Mr and Mrs Gary Susemihl. Grandparents are Adam Tindall Akron Marvin Susemihl Le Mars. Great grandparents include Lizzie Tindall Akron Bessie Buryanek Westfield and Fred Susemihl Le Mars. Rena Gabel marked 50 years as Trinity Lutheran Akron church organist beginning November 7 1924 at St Johns Preston Township aged 15. She recalls her feet not reaching pedals and has served as organist for many weddings funerals and churches in the area guiding choirs at St Johns and Trinity.
Westfield residents and relatives visited residents at the nursing home including Minnie Postlewait and Lizzie Gibbons. A new activity room off the dining area was opened and groups from Immanuel Lutheran and Open House at the new high school attended. Birthday celebrations and visits from Iowa towns were noted along with the film Brown Wolf shown on Wednesday.
About a thousand people attended the Akron school informal Open House on Sunday November 17. Guides from the cheerleaders and Band Drill team led guests while board members administrators and teachers assisted. Visitors included architects contractors and officials from Iowa Colorado South Dakota and Nebraska.
The South Dakota State University Physics Club announces officers for the 1974 75 year. Marjorie Skubic of Brookings is president Steve Levi of Sherburn Minn vice president Swen Weinblom of Akron Tow a secretary Lyle Peters White treasurer Dave Aaron Arlington and Dan Spitle Sioux Falls serve as Joint Engineering Council representatives The club aims to boost interest in physics among physics and engineering physics majors. The West End Grocery in Bloomfield, built 40 years ago, was closed recently by Jim and Joann Stoker.
The music department maps future shows with both vocal and instrumental arms planning Christmas music. Vocal adds a chamber choir and a swing choir, with both groups hosting separate concerts this year. Last Saturday northwest Iowa Junior High Honor Band performed in Storm Lake and earned praise for effort and learning. The next major event is the All-State Music Festival at Thanksgiving with rehearsals in Des Moines and a concert on Saturday November 30 in Ames.
Needlepoint enthusiasts can obtain the 1974 Christmas Seal patterns free by writing the American Lung Association of Iowa. The design theme The Joys of Christmas features an old fashioned sled a snowman a mailman and a Schnauzer puppy by artist Rubidoux Johnson of Fairfield Connecticut. Seals support the fight against lung disease and requests should be sent to Des Moines Iowa.
A five part television series on breast cancer titled Not For Women Only will air in Sioux Falls at KXON and Sioux City at KCAU during the week of November 25 1974. Each half hour program covers early detection diagnosis treatment and rehabilitation. A Norman Cousins quote appears in the notice.
Wennblom of Akron Iowa earned a three year Army Reserve Officer Training Corps scholarship at South Dakota State University. The award presented by Col. Lewis Overstreet covers about $16,000 for tuition fees books and $100 monthly. He is an engineering physics major and will serve four years on active duty after graduation.
Dawn Heather Dreeszen infant daughter of Terry and Dawn Dreeszen of Tea South Dakota died November 16 at a Minneapolis hospital. Services were held November 19 at Trinity Lutheran Church Tea with burial at the church cemetery. Born October 7 in Canton South Dakota. Survived by parents grandparents great grandparents and other relatives.
Mrs. Nannie Bridgeman 84 of Akron died November 13 1974 at Akron hospital. Services were held November 16 at Schroeder Funeral Home with Rev. Dean Orris officiating and burial at Riverside cemetery. Casketbearers were Gerald Weddle Henry Esichacker Harold Scott and Daniel Searls. Born September 22 1890 in Villisca she married December 21 1910 in Red Oak. The couple moved to Akron area in 1918 farmed until retiring in 1961. Survivors include a daughter Mrs. Paul Eichacker Akron three grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

Recent additions include a flag in memory of Gordon Kilstrom and a clock plus a book on Electronics for Fred Talbott.
