Monica Burns and David Brundeen wed at Morningside Church of Christ, the couple to reside in Sioux City. congratulations to the newlyweds. Local election results list mayor, town council, treasurer, and clerk, with vote tallies. Sharon Welch and James Schettler married at St Catherines. reception and dance followed. they will reside in Sioux City. Westfield friends extend best wishes. Mrs. Ellen Funk 75 Akron dies. services held

Mrs. Ellen Funk born May 16 1896 Lawton died November 1 at a Hawarden nursing home. Funeral service was at Wesley United Methodist Church with Rev. Ralph Burdette. Burial Le Mars Memorial Cemetery. Survived by three daughters, a son Floyd, two sisters, 12 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. Mr. Funk died last July.

New postal rate hikes threaten freedom of the press

Look magazine ceased publication amid drastic postal rate increases. The publisher says rates would raise Lock’s postal bill from $4 million to $10 million in five years. Life magazine warns second class rate hikes could ruin major papers and imperil thousands of small daily and weekly newspapers that defend free press and minority rights.
