Union County Farm Bureau Executive Board Meeting Notes

Union County Farm Bureau executives met at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Dewey on Mon Oct 29 to discuss Safe Mark product sales and routine business. Dues for 1974 are due. An annual meeting is set for November 11 12 13 at the Holiday Inn in Mitchell S.C. Delegates include Everett Peterson Lincoln Swedt Laverne Klemme and Steve Ericson with alternates Harvey Dewey and Robert Wendel. Mrs Everett Peterson becomes Women’s chairperson for 1974. Mrs Milton Albin and Mrs Nystrom plan retirement from the newsletter after long service. A county presidents meeting is planned for December 5 6 at Kings Inn with Prime Awards to be given November 3 at the 4 H recognition banquet. Next meeting tentatively November 26 at Mr and Mrs Robert Wendel. Lunch was served by the hostess.

Birthday party at nursing home with music and food

Nursing home residents hosted a party for Margaret Hartmann with sandwiches, coffee, napkins and candles. Marie Degen played piano in the lobby while residents sang. Visitors from Sioux City and Spink County stopped by.

Westmar Chorale adds Julie Jones to 1973 74 roster

Julie Jones a Westmar College student from Akron daughter of Mr and Mrs Richard Jones was selected as a member of the 64 member Westmar Chorale by conductor Frank Summerside after auditions on campus. The chorale travels the upper Midwest and has drawn praise from European press as brilliant and impressive. In area education news Mount Marty College reports 36 student teachers from its Yankton campus working through Dec 7 in classrooms labs and gymnasiums across ten area schools.
