Westfield Congregational Church hosts Plymouth County Extension Council elections on Wednesday November 8 at 7 p.m. in the meeting room. Susan Anderson daughter of Mr and Mrs Lesley Anderson of Atcpon born May 27 1960 in Akron has a brother Erie 20. She attends Trinity Lutheran Church Luther League choir and participates in Band Chorus Glee Norka Staff Vocal groups 4 H Pep Club and athletics. Future plans include Westmar College to study English and American Literature. She recalls the 1967 Junior and Senior Prom as a memorable moment. KR

He attends St Johns Lutheran church in Craig Iowa and studies English Government Agriculture IV Physics and Sociology. His favorite subject is Physical Education and he participates in FFA with senior activities noted.

Health column notes chemoprophylaxis uses TB drugs to prevent disease rather than treat it. A panel from American Thoracic Society, National Tuberculosis Association, and U S Public Health Service endorses it as a prime TB reduction method, estimating up to 300,000 fewer cases in 15 years. This may move toward eradicating TB in American life. U S Savings Bonds offer a 4 to 3 return over seven years.
E B Gowan announces government donated orange juice is available to all town school buildings including public and parochial. About 1,540 of 2,410 public and 208 of 401 non public schools currently participate, with juice served during the day, breaks, or after practice. Schools pay only a nominal transport fee from an Iowa warehouse.
Thirty eight students deferred to doctors for medical attention and forty seven with borderline hearing loss will be retested next year. Hofmeyer tested all third grade pupils and referrals will address speech disorders with twenty minute weekly sessions. The meeting included nurses, psychologists, and specialists to review progress and coordinated care for crippled children. A county and local board meeting on November 9 1997 will discuss Educational TV and Special Education services, with delegates to the Iowa Association of School Boards convention in Des Moines on November 16-17, 1987.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture issued about 41,963,221 bushels of grain wheat and grain sorghum purchase authorizations under P. L. 480 in the last half of September. ASCS reports this total triples the amount authorized in the final half of September under the Food for Freedom Law, reflecting ongoing P. L. 480 negotiations.
Through P L 480 agreements this year the United States signed 21 amendments with 18 countries for 680 million dollars in U S agricultural commodities. The program covers 42 million bushels of wheat and grain sorghum and a purchase of 1 102 300 hundredweights (8) of rice for Indonesia and wheat for India and Pakistan. The rice is for Indonesia wheat for India and Pakistan grain sorghum for India and others. White and soft red winter wheats and yellow grain sorghum amounts are listed with delivery from September to January 1968. A separate P L 480 authorization in September allows Viet Nam to obtain over 11 million cans of sweetened condensed milk for delivery Oct 1 to Dec 31.
The Plymouth County TAP Panel discussed how county technical action can assist rural people and communities. Members include Harold Boehmer, Robert G Haegele, Bill Ahlers, Lyle Mackey, William Farris, and others. The panel meets the first Thursday each month at 7 30 a m at the Club Cafe LeMars Iowa.
The Akron Savings Bank in Akron Iowa adopts amendments at a special stockholder meeting held September 18 1967. The capital stock is set at 75000 dollars with shares of 100. The board will have 5 to 10 directors. Annual stockholder meetings move to the third Tuesday in January each year.
