Belleville New Jersey to host a New York Central locomotive converted to atomic power. Ralph Lucas of United States Industries and Development claims a mercury turbine disintegrates mercury and steel atoms to drive a train, with a single “resepful” of mercury atoms powering 120 cars for 45 NY to SF trips. Experiments slated for four to six months, with six to twelve months of testing, at the Belleville plant. Lucas, Newark resident, cites prior work with Pierce-Arrow and Curtiss-Wright.
