Spring Picnic For School Staff and Families Celebrated

About one hundred ten attendees enjoyed an evening of food and social activity including fried chicken, ball games, and playful gift exchanges. Faculty and staff members pledged favors and talents to fellow teachers amid a lighthearted senior class note wishing future May treasures.

Graduation Exercises for Eight Graders Ended May 25 1959 Akron High

Forty two eighth graders graduated in a 3:00 p m service at Akron High School Auditorium. Pomp and Circumstance opened the ceremony as Sandra Sypher d played. Invocations by Pastor David Roy of Immanuel Lutheran. Vocalists and musicians including Barbara Lundberg Jo Lyn Tucker Sharon Dirks Jeanne Taylor performed pieces. Music awards were presented to Janice Jordahl Jeanne Taylor Paul Johnson Barbara Lundberg Sharon Dirks Neal Seipp Wanda Muth.

Akron High School Track Team Caps Season With Medals

Akron High School track wrapped a strong season with a third in the Holstein Relays two mile relay and several top finishes at Tomahawk, Alta, and Sioux City meets. Jack Fara led the squad, earning a 3rd in the 880 and a 3rd in state qualifiers before final 3rd in Des Moines.
