Hamburg dispatch reports King Frederick VII arrived at the Homburghof hotel Monday and died suddenly this morning. Proclaimed king on January 30, 1906 after Christian IX’s death, he was famed for culture and philanthropy, served as chancellor of Copenhagen University, led Danish Freemasonry, and reformed the army. He was born in Copenhagen on June 3, 1843 and was dean among Europe’s crowned heads.
