Derek’s rise was gradual. he was under contract to Selznick and Fox before Bogart picked him for Knock on Any Door. In 1948 he married Patti Behrs. Broderick Crawford targets Glenn Ford in Convicted as district attorney. RKO plans The Life of John Broderick to showcase his career.
In Burncrest Barney Bridges wins a bid to modernize the annual fair by importing promoter Dana Easton to run the horse races. A bribery scheme unravels as Jake Fletcher exposes that Dana Easton and other drivers were paid to halt the race, leaving six sulkies stalled at the finish line and proving every man can be a crook if he believes he can get away with it.
