The Border Belles January meeting at Barbara Popken's home featured talks on Principles of Art by Connie Gebauer and Grooming Tips by Ruth Dowling, plus a Picture framing demo. February 9 1959 at Barbara Henrichs home opened with eight members, discussing room care, bed making, fire prevention, and a grooming contest to select Rally Day representatives.

Attending the Confirmation service at St. Pauls Lutheran Ireton in honor of William John Rademacher were many Akron area relatives and friends including Mr and Mrs John Wilken Dennis Sharon Barbara Laughton Richard Rozell and the Gabel and Koch families along with a great grandmother Mrs Clara Ziegler. Returning for dinner at the Rademacher home were Rev and Mrs Luther Meyer and other Akron guests. Some attendees and sponsors could not be present due to travel or distance from Iowa City and Arizona summers.

Preston F B Women Meet for Fabrics and Baking Contest
The Preston Farm Bureau women met March 11 at Mrs. Harold Voss home with nine members and five visitors. Guests included Home Economist Mrs Eva Lund who spoke on Care and Selection of New Fabrics. A baking contest with fifteen entries produced First and Second place winners in Sponge Cake Angel Food and Cheese Cake categories. Next meeting slated for April 21 at Mrs Ragnar Johnsons, followed by Holstein dairy shift announcements about the Annual Barn meeting March 27 at Roddy Eyres farm four miles south and 5 1/2 miles east of LeMars.
