Westfield Library fundraiser aids book purchases
Akron Register-Tribune notes a profit of about 390.00 from a school program led by Miss Lease the high school music department head. The money is to buy books for the Westfield Library. Mrs Louie Hoffman and children visited Vermillion over the weekend. On March 17 Mrs Ed Nelson hosted guests in honor of Mrs Charles Mulfinger who teaches at Westfield school. Guests included several local women.

Westfield Community School held its PTA meeting on March 18 with Charles Kaufman from the University of 8. D. as guest speaker on continuing education after high school. The afternoon included a musical quiz, a Junior Class bake sale, and lunches served by the committee. Various local residents and families are noted as Sunday guests and visitors across Sioux City, Hawarden, Akron, Kingsley, Ponca, and Denver. The Westfield Tuesday Club met March 14 at Church Social Rooms with plans for an Amateur Show on April 7, an arts and crafts display at LeMars, and a hat decoration project for a convention program. A large Amateur Show crowd sponsored for library benefit featured multiple performances and the Tuesday club continues activities.

Farmers with 1900 crop flax and sorghum under CCC loans face March 31 maturity. The deadline covers redeeming 1960 crop warehoused flax and sorghum and notifying the County Office of intent to deliver under purchase agreements. Loans are nonrecourse, with price protection at the support level and no interest charges.
