Westfield Notes Describe Illnesses and Local Events

Kathleen Port has been ill for a week though improving. Social visits include Arch Dreeszen at Henry Dreeszen’s, and Sioux City guests at Wm French home. Westfield events feature the As You Like It Club, a fire at Wm Weeks, and numerous weekend gatherings. The high chorus plans a Merrill performance. Local election results show Roland Swanson reelected, Tom Martin elected, and a record vote of 162. amateur show March 18 funds the Westfield library. World Day of Prayer in Elk Point, led by L M Staing, honors Sarah Chakka with a robed choir and multiple church representations.

Local church tea after service marks area unity

Mrs Willis Morsa of Richland and Mrs Holden of Elk Point attended a joint church gathering. F F Elbe played organ. Ushers listed several residents from Richland Elk Point Westfield and Burbank. Eight area churches joined with two outside ones. four denominations represented. A tea in the church parlors followed the two o clock service with Harmon Boyd and Mrs Elbe presiding.

Westfield Cloverettes Meet At Westfield School

The Westfield Cloverettes held a meeting at Westfield school on March 8 1954 with ten members present. Vice president Winifred Selmiensside called the meeting to order and the pledge was given. Members approved paying 689 for portfolio materials and a cent per member for an account book. The group will study paintings and plan activities for March 22 meeting with Judy Neuroth.

Farm Moves and Local Elections Reported in Southwest Plymouth

Southwest Plymouth Co special correspondence notes Wesley Prouillette moving to the Albert Mahaney farm in Liberty township after four years nearby. C V Banks also shifts to a Johnson township farm he bought earlier. Mrs C L Liston undergoes an operation at a Sioux City hospital on March 8 and many friends wish her a speedy recovery.
