In Iowa City 14 246 Iowans pledged their eyes after death to the Iowa Lions Eye Bank at University Hospitals. Governor Hughes proclaims March Eye Bank Month to boost donor pledges and signups through Lions Clubs and eye bank campaigns. Since 1956 the program has funded eye bank efforts and 3388 corneal transplants have been performed.
