Akron High Cagers Fall to LeMars in Sectional Meet
Akron High School boys basketball ended their season with a 31 to 19 loss to LeMars in the Class A sectional at Hawarden. Despite a 6 to 4 first quarter lead and a tight first half, LeMars pulled away in the third period. The game concluded Akron careers for Jack Gusman, Ralph Strzawski, and Hob Sweeney after two strong seasons. Westfield High fell 40 to 28 to Hespers in a Class B first-round game, ending a standout season for Westfield seniors.

The marriage of Mildred Tene Lemen and Marvin B Klemme was performed at the Fairfield Iowa Church of Christ on August 27 1938 by Rev S P Williamson. Attending were Mrs Harold Peck and the couple received many best wishes. A belated dinner followed. Multiple showers and parties honored the couple in Akron and surrounding areas. Both graduates of Akron High School with Mrs Klemme employed in a doctors office. They reside east of Akron on the family farm.

Obituary notes Mrs. Margaret Wise, longtime Akron resident, died March 3 1941 at age 75 after a heart attack. Funeral held Thursday at Akron Methodist Church with interment Riverside Cemetery. Death summons a former Akron woman in South
Eva Amelia Peterson Jansen, longtime Atlanta resident and former Akron area resident, dies after long illness in Atlanta hospital. She had worked in banks in Rock Rapids and Sioux City, married Arthur Jansen in 1918, lived in New Orleans briefly before settling in Atlanta for 26 years. Funeral services were held in Atlanta and Big Springs with family present, three sisters and a brother surviving, plus nieces and nephews. Large out of town attendance noted.

Legion Auxiliary Holds Regular Meeting at Burrill Home
