Mrs Edward McDougall Dies at 78 in Westfield

Mrs Edward McDougall a long time Westfield resident died at home Sunday June 1 thus aged 78 years 6 months born December 14 1887 married February 24 1908 to Edward McDougall survivors include four daughters two sons 15 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren Funeral services were held Wednesday morning at the Westfield Congregational church with Rev David J Rey officiating Interment was at Ada ville ULB cemetery

Deer killed as auto strikes on Vermillion road

A deer was killed when it crossed a county road about 11 30 pm Saturday, 1 miles west of Burbank. Jay Zea 20 of Sioux Falls driving west at 50 mph hit the deer, his 1963 Ford skidding into a north ditch. The driver and a female passenger escaped with minor injuries. Front of the car sustained about 200 in damage. Vermillion game warden Ronald P Catlin investigated.

Hold Rites Saturday for Howard Morestead

Howard E. Morehead 66 of Sioux City died after a heart attack on June 23. Born June 11 1900 in Plymouth County he married LaVina Hoffman in 1919 and farmed near Westfield before moving to Sioux City thirty years ago. Surviving are a son a daughter two brothers a sister four grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Funeral was at Rutledge Funeral Home with Rev Donald Roberts officiating. burial in Memorial Park LeMars.

County mutuals join suit over deductible demands

Plymouth Farmers Mutual Insurance Association and 81 county mutuals in Iowa intervene in a Des Moines suit against Commissioner William E. Timmons. The action seeks to force a $56 windstorm and hail deductible on town dwelling claims, while a temporary injunction blocks policy forms missing a $50 deductible. The mutuals, self governed and locally operated, differ from Independent Agents bodies led by Cyril B. Friedman and E. Stewart Ulrich.

A special town council meeting on June 20 1966 chaired by Mayor W G Adams elected to issue cigarette permits for multiple establishments including Bill's Tavern Nielsen Service Bernard's Tap and others.
