Navy chief plans big cuts to meet Hoover economy drive

Secretary Adams told branch chiefs to draft budget reductions to save about 40 million dollars from 1982 Navy appropriations. Charlottesville to honor Monroe centennial on Independence Day

Charlottesville hosts the centennial celebration marking James Monroe death with a day of radio addresses, university ceremonies, and a gala at Ash Lawn his Virginia home. Diplomatic guests view Monroe's estate and garden, and a Venezuela statue was unveiled at Ash Lawn earlier in spring.
