Wets Lose in Iowa Primaries in Des Moines Special
The Iowa Anti-Saloon League reports the wets faced statewide defeat with sentiment against beer and wine, while drys gained several legislative seats and retained Congress representation. The upset over Senator Frank Thompson’s defeat by EB M Romkey is noted as significant in the dry wets fight, with Thompson previously receptive to the league’s questionnaire. Brookhart’s candidacy is deemed satisfactory to prohibitionists.
