The excerpt shows Alix Adler and Gerry amid tense exchanges and illness as a community, including Mira, Abe, and Alan, with Gerry facing a battle and hopeful recovery. Maple House and Hog AU settings frame the mood as rain daily dampens spirits and district life adapts to hardship.
