Akron Commercial Club Meeting Highlights and Local Pitch
The Akron Commercial Club held a regular Monday session led by President Robertson. Minutes were approved and a small delinquency in baseball club subscriptions noted, offset by strong receipts. The club praised Akron’s amateur team, especially pitchers Millette and Webber, as a premier Northwest Iowa squad. Advertising plans were approved to promote Akron’s Fall Stock and Produce Fair. A Des Moines committee member urged expanding population via new families, not just factories, citing 40 acres per family and the slogan Made in Iowa. Local listings include a Plymouth county farm for sale at 85 dollars per acre and an Akron eight room dwelling at 1200 dollars.
