Nominee Up To Conventions For Congress Nominees
Candidates on the Republican ticket failed to reach the 26 percent law threshold, shifting focus to a convention to select the nominee. A Congressional committee, with members from Plymouth Sioux and Buena Vista counties, will set date, place, and representation ratios. Delegates may be chosen by county chairs before June 30, and state law governs vacancies. Campbell led eight counties, Gilman and Prichard won key counties, but overall primary standings may be overridden by delegate choices at the convention. Candidates push to contact delegates ahead of county conventions forming the convention that will name the congressional nominee.

Paris Landmark Linen Shop Disappears in Ma Rails Quarter
A historic Paris linen shop in the Ma Rails quarter vanishes. Tradition ties the site to Mme de Pompadour of Louis XV and a sign over the door once showing Saint John the Baptist. In 1793 saints were proscribed, so the proprietor hung a bathed monkey figure with the inscription Au Stige en Batiste. It is hoped the sign will join the Cartavalet museum.
