Philip and Elk Point pair celebrate golden anniversary

A report details J Martin Larson and wife from Elk Point attending Philip South Dakota’s 50th anniversary on May 26. Mystery Farm identifications prize contest in Akron area

The Wamsley era farm known locally as the old Wamsley place lies on State Highway 12, four miles north of Akron. Now owned by the Boyson Ross estate and farmed by Bill Popken with his wife Regina Thomas Popken, the 380 acre property yields corn oats and hay while raising Poll ed Hereford cattle. The Popkens, married Jan 1946, attend St Patrick's Catholic Church and Farm Bureau. Nine rural and five town readers correctly identified the location in recent contests. a new Mystery Farm appears in The First National Bank advertisement for readers to solve for free theatre tickets.
