Miss Marilyn Tammen and Lyle Morgan united in marriage May 11 at St John Lutheran Craig. Rev Donald Schmidt presided before an altar of blue and white pom poms with music by Mary Silver and Jiudy Haitz. The bride wore a schiffli embroidered tulle gown and carried her grandmother’s handkerchief with a white orchid bouquet. Reception for 190 followed at the church with blue and white decor, four tier cake, and family attendants. The couple will live in Sioux City after a two week honeymoon.

Remsen Union school merger plan dropped
The Remsen Union school merger bid collapsed after Union voted to withdraw at a joint meeting with the county board. The action leaves Remsen as a stand-alone 12 grade district for now and opens the door for a possible three way alliance with LeMars and Merrill pending legislative changes. County officials note current law lets a 12 grade district continue for four more years.

Deanna Dirks, daughter of Mr and Mrs Walter Dirks of Akron, has been selected by the National Youth Office of the Augustana Lutheran church at Minneapolis to join one of ten Caravaners teams for a summer tour. She will train by mail then travel to Minneapolis June 8 to meet leaders and peers before a ten day briefing and on site work visiting churches and Luther Leagues across New England New York Florida Canada Texas California and more. Deanna previously was reelected Sunday as President of the Northwestern Iowa District Augustana Luther League at Alta Iowa.
