Beautify Westfield eighth graders lead clean up drive

Westfield eighth grade students under Mrs. Mansfield and Mr. Flynn spearhead a town wide cleanup urged by the council. Posters, painted barrels and cans aim to encourage resident participation. Also noted is St Catherine's Guild meeting details and awards night at Westfield High School.

Local men in armed services Welch at Hohenfels Germany

Army Pvt. Robert F. Welch 20, Akron Iowa native, takes part in a four week training exercise with the 45th Medical Battalion, 3rd Armored Division, at Hohenfels Germany. He works as a supply clerk near Frankfurt and has recent overseas arrival after basic training at Fort Leonard Wood. Welch graduated in 1963 from Westfield Community School and previously worked for Central Airlines in Kansas City.

Heart Clinic Slated for Local Children

The State Services for Crippled Children will hold a cardiac clinic at Washington High School in Cherokee on Wednesday June 15 to diagnose and evaluate children under 21 with rheumatic heart disease or cardiac needs. Referrals must come from physicians. no fee. Peace Corps to Test on June 11 in Akron Area

Akron area residents may take the Peace Corps Placement Test on Saturday June 11 at Sioux City Room 204 Fourth floor Postoffice building. The test measures general aptitude and language learning ability to place applicants overseas with no preparation and non-competitive conditions.

Cant pass or fail. The application form, not the Placement Test, is the most important factor in selecting Volunteers.
