Governor Hughes to address delegates Monday at 11 00 a m. Eight candidates vie for five vice commander posts as giant parade caps the event.
Notice announces a public hearing on plans and contract forms for a municipal water system in Westfield Iowa. Sealed bids due August 25 1965 with 10 percent certified check. Project includes standpipe pumping station 4 inch mains hydrants meters and related conduits. Plan deposits and bid procedures outlined with completion by October 5 1965.
Farmers may file a refund claim for the 4 cent per gallon federal gasoline tax on gas used in farming for purchases between June 30, 1964 and July 1, 1965. Claims must be filed between July 1 and September 30. Assistance available at the F B office. Sept. 30 deadline noted.
The Federal Land Bank Association of Sioux City will pay more than 31300 in dividends to its members. Dividend checks will be mailed August 2 to stockholding members. The association is owned by borrower members it serves and operates under the Federal Land Bank of Omaha, with over 11200000 in loans in Iowa and Nebraska. Directors include Paul Hummel Virgil Newberg Clarence Keffeler Walter Muecke Clifford Steinhoff Maurice Jensen and Herbert Pike.
Analysis shows the typical ordinary life insurance policy bought by American families in 1963 and 1964 ranged around seven to seven and a half thousand dollars. One third of new policies stood at ten thousand dollars or more, with adult men averaging twelve thousand two hundred fifty dollars and adult women about three thousand six hundred dollars.
Army Pfc. Paul D. Orris, 19, son of Mr. and Mrs. Dean R. Orris of Akron Iowa, was assigned to the 16th Signal Battalion in Germany near Butzbach on July 1. He entered the Army in May 1964, trained at Fort Leonard Wood Missouri, and is a 1964 Akron High School graduate.
