Christine L. Petersen announced that Plymouth County schools received 9005.97 in Federal funds to finance noon lunches for the 1953 64 year. Eight schools participated and 228 824 meals were served with 6280 provided free to needy children. Schools received various commodities from the National School Lunch Act program and surplus items such as processed cheese, peanut butter, dried beans, and shortening.

1954 Iowa Rabbit and Squirrel Seasons Announced

Long illness is fatal to former Akron resident
Conrad Bennett 67 of Wilmington Del formerly of Chatsworth Hawarden and Akron died Tuesday after months of illness. He worked at a Cobb drug store in his youth and later at a Grinnell glove factory. Survived by widow two children Keith and Miriam Panepinto a brother and two sisters seven grandchildren and other relatives. Funeral set for Friday with sister Mrs Orin Harris and her son attending from Akron. Mrs Harris also of Hawarden is a sister. Bennett born June 15 1887 near Chatsworth.

Relatives of Billy Keane announce the death from a traffic accident in Long Beach California. The eldest son of Grace Keane, he was returning from work when struck by an automobile last Friday afternoon. He was born in Akron and is survived by his mother, brother Charles J.
