Akron neighbors mourn the accidental death of Mrs. L F Root at the Omaha crossing near Seney Iowa. Mrs Root and her husband were returning from Arnold's Park with plans to visit relatives when struck by a work train engine. Root was only slightly injured. Mrs Root died en route to LeMars where their son Roy Root serves as county clerk. Relatives, including Mr and Mrs Chas Wise and Mrs L J Cross, rush to LeMars to accompany the body home. The Root family, early settlers northeast of Akron, are remembered for their standing in the community and sincere sympathy is extended to the bereaved.

Fire Destroys Farm Buildings in Johnson Township
Fire Thursday afternoon destroyed five farm buildings on Jesse H. Kallsen’s Johnson township property near LeMars. A large barn cow barn two hog houses and a smaller laying were lost with several thousand dollars in damage. Origin unknown. fire started in the hay loft of the main barn as neighbors fought to contain the blaze. The home and other structures were saved largely by wind direction. George Meines operated the farm. insured for about 3500 with Hlympouth and Sioux County Mutual.
