Cordelia Mae McGuire and Ralph Smith were married at Elk Point in a noon ceremony at the home of the McGuire family. Rev. Strong officiated with about twenty five relatives present. The couple left for a two week motor trip to the Black Hills and will reside on the groom’s farm near Spink.

A Washington high school home economics instructor hosted a luncheon with a lavender and yellow color scheme. Centerpiece flowers and engagement cards in yellow and blue complemented the event. Afterward twelve puente players enjoyed bridge in the Spanish room with prizes for scores and the guest of honor. Directors of the Old Settlers Association attended a court house meeting to plan a joint picnic at Riversioux Dark on Tuesday August 30. The Warm Bureau members will join, making it a joint affair this year.
