Mrs. Guernsey arrived from New York to visit relatives. Mrs. Anderson of Michigan visited her mother. Lena Warntjes joined relatives from Sioux City and traveled to Hull with them. Attorney Fred W. Sargent and Sioux City city engineer Red Smith attended the council meeting on sewer plans, expected to start in September. The Methodist Sunday school picnic drew about 125, with games and basket dinners at the Pollock home. a ball game between the "bloomer" girls and the boys ended 9 to 6 for the boys, amid other amusements.

An open air concert by the Alcester band will be held at Erickson Bros store in Big Springs South Carolina on Saturday evening July 25. Everyone is invited to enjoy the music and partake of ice cream and other refreshments.

W E Meyers was an Akron business caller Tuesday. Carl Schwalsow and family were LeMars callers Monday. Miss Louise Majerus helps with duties at the Jauron home. Mike Gattney works for John Clark while Clark nurses a sore knee. A fine boy was born to Mr and Mrs Dan Maloney Jr Saturday July 13. Dr Brown of Akron attended a sick horse at Bank Outken's. Lena Steinfeldt left Sunday for an extended visit with her uncle in Grant township. Barn dances at Ben Borchers and Rudolph Erks farms drew large crowds. Chay Barinsky visited his uncle John Barinsky from Saturday to Sunday. sister Pauline returned home with him. Harvest is in full swing and haying nearly finished. Some grain cut, oats rusted and light weight.

Westfield Mourns Rites For Elder E. H. Wobbut

Westfield records the death of Rev. E. H. Wobbut at 76 after long illness. The preacher, born May 22, 1832 in New York, served churches in Rochester Waukesha Mantua Huntingdon Vermillion Centerville Sunnyside and Akron. His career spanned Dakota settlement work and evangelistic efforts before moving to Westfield in 1907. He left three sons and a daughter and a large funeral attended by locals and Akron friends.

Funeral Service and Interment at Riverside Akron
