Five masked bandits halted Denver Rio Grande Train No 315, two miles east of Chester at 6:50 am Monday, blew two safes, fired dynamite, and looted money and jewelry from passengers. The engineer was struck, passengers moved to the rear, and safes damaged. no money was recovered from the mail car. The train serves Gunnison Lake City Ouray Telluride and other western slope towns. Roving gunfire and pursuit followed with sheriffs searching the area near Marshall Pass.
