Dr Walter J Brunner Dies After Illness at 83

Dr Walter J Brunner longtime Akron physician died after an illness on Wednesday July 7 age 83 born June 18 1882 in Prairie City Iowa son of Henry and Martha Brunner educated at local schools Des Moines Capital City Commercial School Cedar Falls teachers college taught in country schools Keokuk Medical College and Northwestern University School of Medicine 1909 married Edith Gillin Sioux City 1912 began practice at Westfield 1910 moved to Akron 1914 practiced until about twelve years ago when he had a stroke in McAllen Texas remembered for understanding care and service to constituents survived by wife and daughter he was active in Freemasons past master and served with local hospital project and local lodge affairs.

Golden Wedding of Mr and Mrs Ernest Frerichs

Mr and Mrs Ernest Frerichs of LeMars formerly Akron township celebrated their golden wedding anniversary Sunday afternoon July 11 with an open house at St John Americans Lutheran church Preston township. Minnie Meilien born in Preston township and Ernest Frerichs born in Grant township were married July 48 1915 at Akron and farmed near Akron before moving to LeMars in 1945. Children include Mrs Paul Esther Beech LeMars Mrs Reine Alan Witt and Mrs Dapeard.

Lewison Family Holds Five Year Picnic Reunion

The Lewison family celebrated its five year reunion at Elk Point Auditorium on July 4, 1965. Four generations attended a noon dinner. 125 people gathered including 14 children born to Chris Lewison and spouses. The event featured a 100th anniversary theme with a tiered wedding cake and a skit about Chris and Randy, narrations by local residents, and garments from 1865. Granddaughters modeled heirloom wedding gowns. a Viking statue was given as a trophy. Officers for 1970 were elected and guests came from many states including Iowa, Minnesota, Washington, and Colorado.
