A three day Lamoureux family reunion gathered at Wayzata Minnesota with Jack and his wife hosting relatives from Akron Arvada Appleton and Michie. The gathering marked the first full family reunion in a decade. Children attended Pan American Watersports trials on Lake Minnetonka while adults enjoyed pool golf and badminton.

Akron Hosts Sectional Baseball Tournament

Akron hosts a six team sectional baseball tournament this week and next. First round Wednesday featured Sioux Center vs West Sioux and Alan vs Rock Valley. West Lyon High and Maurice-Orangity drew byes. In the local semifinal MCC Dutchmen meet Sioux Center West Sioux winner at 6:00 pm and West Lyon meets Akron Rock Valley winner at 8:00 pm Friday. Finals Monday at 7:30 pm. The champion advances to Sanborn Wednesday to face the Sanborn winner for a State District bid.

Local service men in Viet Nam to be honored

Service men from western Plymouth county serving in Viet Nam will be honored during the LeMars Summer Band concert in Le Mars on Wednesday evening July 19. Akron and Westfield area names will be called as the Hosichler Post color guard presents and retires a flag for each man. Draft Deferment Rules Expanded and Dairy Imports Curbed

President Johnson signed a four year extension of the draft and overhauled undergraduate and graduate deferments. Standby induction authority noted but not immediate. Marriage license fee rises to five dollars

The Plymouth County clerk of courts office says marriage license costs will increase from three to five dollars on July 1. Early issuance may help some couples, but licenses and blood tests remain valid for only twenty days after issuance. Private enterprise contributes several million dollars to the 4 H program for trips training aids and recognition.
