Westfield Cloverettes met July 6 at Dix ie Dandy’s home. Roll call praised United States. talks covered closet essentials and buying furniture. Demonstrations included painting wood and finishing a picture frame. Reports on summer camp and the Ames 4-H convention were shared. members worked on projects or records. All-day meeting with sack lunch.
The 1961 Farm Business Summary for Northwest Iowa shows a 2 percent rise in net farm income to about 10,600 dollars per farm, driven by a record corn yield of 88 bushels per acre and crop production of 13,130 dollars per farm. Net incomes rose from 10,482 in 1960 to 10,645 in 1961, while operating and fixed expenses hit new highs. livestock margins were weaker.
