Union Creek church services planned for Sunday morning July 6. Literary League to meet at Luther hall on Tuesday evening July 11, hosted by Mrs Harold Stinehart and Mrs Geo Adamson. Several families and individuals from Fort Dodge, Sioux City, Alcester, and Riverview visit relatives, attend picnics, and travel between Union Creek and nearby towns during the Fourth of July period.
East Westfield notes include visits by Mr and Mrs Phil Parks of Sioux City to son J I Parks in Westfield. a record threshing by Wm DeRocher. numerous visits and gatherings for the Fourth of July with a large Farmers Holiday Association celebration near LeMars. rain shortages and heat concerns. weddings and local comings and goings. and community updates on schools, farming, and entertainment.
Special correspondence from Milnerville notes Miss Ima McKeller's return to Vermilion South Dakota, visits by Fred Maloney and Sam Mosher party in Yankton, and Maloney hauling hay from Stevens. Lucile Maloney visited Sioux City for Woodbury county exams. Dorothy Tremeter and others spent time with relatives. Farm work is hampered by continued heat as small grain suffers damage.
Mrs. Henry Crow visited her son George and family near Hawarden last week. Several couples and families from Hawarden and surrounding areas spent the Fourth with relatives in Sioux City, Cedar Falls, and Brunsville. Laura Webb returned home from Akron hospital, with two weeks of bed rest ahead. The Chat-or-Bid club held an annual picnic at Orin Harris walnut grove. Next Sunday the Lutheran Mission Feast will be held with services, dinner, and lunch. all are invited.
