A recently introduced House bill in the South Dakota legislature would curb cross state student enrollment between South Dakota and Iowa. It stems from West Sioux Iowa’s halt on new Hudson South Dakota enrollments. The measure would let South Dakotans study in Iowa only if Iowans face no restriction on South Dakota attendance. Current AHS students are unaffected.
Karen Frerichs daughter of Alvin and Mrs. Frerichs, born Hawarden June 16, 1946, is a senior at Akron high. She has sisters Elaine 26 and Judy 20 and brother Bob 19, attends St. John’s Lutheran Church, active in Luther League and choir, loves applesauce, favors blue, and admires Richard Chamberlain. Her favorite movie remains unfinished in the fragment.

Local married men enlistments include Bernard Markus in Navy and Iver Pollock in Marines, Markus closing bakery for the duration, and a Plymouth county group of 26 heading to Fort Crook Neb.
