The Plymouth County Education Council Executive Committee met in Akron to plan the all county teachers meeting in LeMars on February 17 with Miss Mavis Hanna scheduled to speak on Deutschland and an armchair tour.

South Dakota Conservation Reserve contracts near final steps

The county Agriculture and Conservation offices are finalizing contracts with farmers to place land in the Conservation Reserve. February 1 is the deadline for signing. Applicants notified are urged to decide quickly so others can be reached if a contract is refused. Priority goes to lowest land rate below the basic rate, with funds expected to cover most offered land. Contracts run 5 to 10 years with per acre yearly rentals and optional cost share for establishing conservation uses. The program began in 1956 and expires December 31, 1960.
