The Frank Swanson home was completely destroyed by fire Sunday night while the family attended a church in Sioux City. Neighbor Adolph Kovarna and a Sioux City friend reported the blaze, but by the time help arrived nothing could be saved. The tragedy drew strong sympathy from the community as residents and P T A members gathered despite cold weather for an Hancock township meeting led by Mr Bahr, Sioux City recreation director, who praised the organization.
Union Creek News reports upcoming events with church services on Sunday at 3 o clock, the Ladies Aid meeting at Luther Hall on February 2 hosted by Mrs Albert Anderson and Mrs Lawrence Ericson, and the O W L 4 H club gathering January 28 at Naomi Steinert's home. Local families such as Alve Ericson and Kenneth Johnson with Amelia Jane and Aunt Gunderson visited the Vreugdenhil home, while Milton Ericson and Lawrence Ericson families joined Lois's birthday celebration at the Anderson home Friday evening.
