Henry Boetger Dies at 75 in Akron Christmas Day
Henry Fredrick Boetger died suddenly of a heart attack at home in Akron on Christmas Day December 25 1943 aged 75 years 2 months and 14 days. Born October 11 1868 in Germany he came to the United States at fourteen and farmed in Union County South Dakota. He married Emma Anderson April 19 1890 and had nine children with four sons and three daughters surviving along with twenty three grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Funeral services were held Tuesday at Emmanuel Lutheran Church with Rev G Svenson officiating and interment in Riverside cemetery.

Mary Elizabeth Houghton Hilliker, longtime Akron resident and pioneer, died January 1 1944 at age 88 after a brief illness. Born in England 1856 she came to Iowa as a child, married Charles M Hilliker in 1875, lived on farms near Adaville and LeMars before moving to Akron. Survived by two sons a daughter five grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Funeral services at Akron Methodist Church with Eastern Star rituals. Interment in Riverside cemetery.

Miss Lorraine Johnson visited relatives in Sioux City last week. Mrs. Leonard Jensen of Sioux City came Sunday to visit in the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. Swanson. Mrs. Harold Adams of Sutherland Iowa visited over Sunday with her husband and her parents. Mr. and Mrs. Loyal Tucker and children of Sioux City stayed with grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Parker. Mrs. Ed Thorp and family hosted. Everett Stoner and sons Rex and Dean went to Parker South Dakota for the funeral of Mrs. Stoner's brother who died suddenly of a heart attack. The Union Creek Extension club meets Monday evening January 10 at Mrs. Ernest Meske home with Mrs. Harold Stinehart assisting. Demonstrations will be given by Nutrition and Child Care leaders Mr. and Mrs. Vern Swift, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Zierath and Vivian. Mrs. Leonard Klemme and family drove to Worthington Minnesota for a weekend visit with relatives. Ms. Swift and Mrs. Klemme extended their stay there several days.
