Bergstrom Bodeen Post No 128 of Hudson South Dakota will sponsor a benefit dance on Saturday March 1 at the Veterans Memorial building in Hudson. Chaparrals will provide music. Proceeds go to Mrs Roy Twedt who suffers kidney failure and relies on costly dialysis treatments in Sioux Falls. Advance tickets priced at 2 dollars are on sale via legion members or by mail to Roger Tweet commander Hudson SD. Tickets also at the door.
High school students in Iowa must submit their two page typewritten essays to the Farm Bureau office in Le Mars by March 1. Entries judged on knowledge, presentation, and maturity with county prizes of 50 dollar first, 25 dollar second, and 25 dollar second prizes. The county winner advances to the Iowa Farm Bureau contest for awards up to 200 dollar first, 100 dollar second, and 50 dollar third, plus an expense paid trip to the Chicago leadership conference.
The Northwest Iowa Co-eds hold a meeting on Tuesday March 4 at 7 30 p m in Rock Valley The group will gather at Hope Haven administration building and Rock Valley secretaries have planned an interesting evening for attendees.

Professor Dwaine Dunning and his wife Jane hosted eight Dakota Bible College students including Robert Orris and the college quartet. In Alcester, Daniel Wittstruck and Shell hosted Marilyn Wittstruck, Ethan, and Steve Wolden with Duane. Others visited the Herbert Miller home at Akron. Terry Kiese also called on Sunday.

Kevin Garvin of Akron and a freshman at the University of South Dakota has earned membership in the University chapter of Phi Eta Sigma the national freshman honor society for scholastic achievement. He is the son of Dr and Mrs Robert Garvin and a graduate of Akron Community High School.
Akron student Robert H. Koch is named to Drake University's fall semester president's honor list among 938 top students and dean's list recipients. President's list includes 291 students with a 4.0 GPA for 12+ credit hours, while dean's list members hold at least a 3.5 GPA for 12+ hours.
The Akron Tops club held its regular meeting on Wednesday February 19 with twelve members present. The group welcomed a new member, approved secretary and treasurer reports, discussed old and new business, and heard weight loss progress including a 24 pound best loser. Next week plans include a member program on dieting health and exercise. area Tops meeting set for April 5 at Council Bluffs Iowa.
The Friendship and Service club gathered February 13 at Karen Willer’s home with Judy Stenwall as co hostess. Eleven members attended as President Marge Dykstra led the meeting with the flag salute Mary Stewarts collect and scripture reading followed. Joyce Thorson read Federated News Flash about Bi centennial Plates to Valley Forge. Treasurer and secretary reports were approved and bills discussed. A Plymouth county convention call for March 17 at Hinton was read. After business, Sue Mortensen introduced Myrtle Henriksen’s program via film Beyond All Barriers prepared by Bell Telephone covering communications history up to the present. scenery and cinematography praised.
Liberty Johnson Homemakers met Tuesday Feb 11 with Marjorie Jelken and Jean Foley co hosting. Ruth Morehead chaired with pledge. Reports on county meetings and legislature were given. Scholarships due Feb 15, essay entries due March 1. Farm Bureau Women’s Day March 27 in Le Mars with speaker Mrs Herbert Johnson. Legislative tour planned for March 13. Gifts for Good Ship Hope and a gift certificate to Iowa Boys Home noted. Next meeting at Clark Tindall home 10:30 am with pot luck and paper ribbon craft.
Nine members attended the February 18 meeting in the civic room of Akron City Hall. Merile Wilmot presented a picture and talk about the mountain Camp and Hike excursions she and her husband Ron Wilmot supervise for Akron's young students. Evelyn Claesson served as hostess.
The Home Culture Club gathered in the civic meeting room of City Hall on Tuesday February 4 with ten members answering roll call on a current events topic. Margaret Peters reviewed Crown of Aloes by Norah Lofts about Queen Isabella, and Fern Roy served coffee.
Rev David Roy and 14 other Nebraska Iowa Lutheran pastors joined a Feb 24 26 seminar in Fremont Nebraska. Sponsored by Midland Lutheran College and Nebraska synod LCA Continuing Education Committee, the program featured Dr Umhau Wolf of Toledo as keynote and speakers from the Board of Pensions LCA and Social Security Administration. A Lutheran Brotherhood grant supported funding.
Michelle Kay Strom daughter of Mrs Maria Strom Akron has been accepted for admission to Sioux Falls College Sioux Falls S D for the fall term 1975 She will graduate from Akron Community High School this spring and plans to major in art education Sioux Falls College a four year liberal arts college affiliated with the American Baptist churches of the United States emphasizes a Christian education combining intellect and spiritual growth.
Debbie Marie Harwick and John David Orris will marry March 14 at 7 30 p m at Meadow Park Church of Christ in Rochester Minnesota The couple are child honorees of Mr and Mrs Roger D Harwick Rochester and Pastor and Mrs Dean R Orris Akron Iowa Debbie is a University of Minnesota graduate with Sears Rochester experience and a teaching certificate John holds an AA and F Th from Minnesota Bible College and is pursuing a master's at Lincoln Bible Seminary Lincoln MI After the wedding the couple will reside in Lincoln

Mrs Agnes Brown of Adel celebrates a 91st birthday soon and recently had her first haircut from her grandson. Her hair, never cut before, measured about 18 inches in length, marking a notable milestone in this long hair heritage.
