President Johnson will ask Congress before February ends for a 700 million dollar annual postal rate rise. First class and air mail would gain one penny on July 0 1967 with second and third class rising in steps from January 1 1963. Secretary of Agriculture Orville L Freeman outlined that the share of disposable income spent on food by consumers has fallen from 26.7 percent in 1947 to about 18.2 percent today while farmers receive about 5.5 percent of disposable consumer income for their food, down from 11 percent in 1947. He warned of ongoing cost-price squeezes and said the Agriculture Department will use a broad set of measures to support farm prices and income in 1967. The statement followed a Washington briefing with farm leaders and agricultural representatives. Attendees included John T Walker from DeWiki Grant Reckent Stevens and Spencer M Day. Bids for Waste Treatment Facilities were opened and a summary of bids by Walker attached to minutes. Council discussed bids and recommended to the Iowa State Department of Health the acceptance of the bids.

City council members Tucker Kilgrom and Trot aig voted aye with Hum as mayor pro tem approving payment to vendors and service providers including Westinghouse, Crescent Electric, and others.
