Book and Thimbleclub Meeting at Akron High School

The Book and Thimbleclub met in the Akron high school auditorium at 2 p.m. on Tuesday February 11 with drama students presenting the one act play Couldn't I Kiss You Goodnight. Rural Home Culture Meeting Recaps February 7

The Rural Home Culture club met Friday February 7 at Ina Young's home for a noon pot-luck. Eleven members answered roll call with a health food. Ruth Mitchell spoke on the Akron Student Loan Fund past history and rulings. Beth Finzen presented Health and Nutrition. Valentine plates were packed and delivered to shut ins after adjournment.

50th anniversary observed for Mr and Mrs Frerichs

Mr and Mrs Claus Frerichs of Le Mars celebrated their golden wedding with a Sunday open house at St. John American Lutheran church parlors hosted by their seven children. They were married February 18 1925 by Rev J J Vollmar. Their children include Gerald Richard Stanley George Leon Ardyth Fisher Carol Fick and others with 27 grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Mrs Anna Vindahl Celebrates 94th Birthday

Mrs Anna Vindahl celebrated her 94th birthday on Friday February 14 with a family dinner and the traditional birthday cake and ice cream. Those present were Mr and Mrs Neil McLane Sr and Mrs Norma Haan and Berk. She received many gifts cards and calls and thanks LCW staff at Immanuel Lutheran Church and the Rural Home Culture Club for goodies and well wishes.

Akron Native Joins Sioux City Concrete Pipe Sales

Tom Waterbury of Sioux City has joined the sales department of Concrete Pipe and Machinery Co. He has worked there since June 1966 and the firm serves all 50 states and about 50 foreign firms. A 1962 Akron Community high school graduate, he is the son of Mrs. Gertrude Waterbury of Akron.

Mrs Nettie J Anderson 87 longtime Akron resident dies January 25 1975 in Van Nuys California. She lived on a farm near Akron with husband William A Anderson until 1947. Nursing home notes as residents share visits and films

Residents enjoyed two films Our Gang Comedy and Derby Days at the nursing home. A flurry of visitors from Sioux City Akron and Westfield dropped by for chats, meals and gifts while Valentines and Easter Seals drives filled envelopes.

School Board Hears Budget and Reports

Regular school board meeting held February 13 with all members present. Budget hearing approved the general fund 513675 and school house fund 21632. Monthly finance hot lunch activity and transportation reports approved. Bills approved. Teacher evaluations presented by Mr Schoppenhorst and Mr Pavlik. Meeting adjourned.
