Akron HS girl qualifies in Homemaker contest
Phyllis Jean Chamberlain has been named the Betty Crocker Homemaker of Tomorrow in Akron High School. She achieved the highest score on a statewide homemaking exam and advances to compete with 530 other winners for the All-American title. The award includes a pin, a $1,500 scholarship, and an educational trip. national winner to be named April 17 in New York.

Large Basin Civil Work Expands Toward 95 Percent at Oahe Dam
Galloway reports Oahe dam construction to reach about 95 percent completion next year. The major project includes placing around 24 million cubic yards of dirt to close the dam. At Sioux Malls a flood-damaged levee and channel work is nearing completion. Diversion, channel and levee contracts on the Big Sioux are planned for next spring. A Lower Big Sioux river study is underway with a 1968 chief of engineers report expected. Also notes sale of typewriter ribbons and carbon at the Register-Tribune office.
