A week end snow storm dumped eight to ten inches followed by a cold wave driving temperatures to 10 to 20 below zero on Monday and Tuesday with little thaw. Births are noted in Akron and Acero with January 1918 dates. A local birthday surprise for Mrs. Baramel in Westfield is recorded along with funeral arrangements for Mrs. Hofstad. A marriage notice from Akron reports Nellie Waterbury daughter of Mr and Mrs Geo Winterbury and Arguat Kineline wed John Nelke all of Akron. The nuptials took place at the brides' home on January 29, 1908.
G Waaren of Stoo recently bought the Allowon drug from R H Cofffin and attended a wartime session with Mr wand in Mira. Around forty families joined Akron youths at a celebration where Akron’s basketball team lost to the YMA Midgets 97 to 19 in Sioux City. Akron’s Frame lineup included Goodwin Beverly Rex Smith Koch Montagne Smith Orlan Moore in defense as boys played marbles and baseball on Saturday January 25. Disd-Mias Dria Seamnty and Mita Seamorids, daughter of Mire, were noted. M Y Sesmands long served as operator for the Alcnan telephone exchange.
