Wreck of German steamer near Sitka on Alaska Coast

A Sitka special says the German steamer Marichen went ashore at Faltz Bay about 100 miles from Sitka last Thursday. Officers and part of the crew arrived in Sitka Sunday on the steamer Georgia. The Makechen cleared from Seattle for Vladivostok January 19 with $250,000 in general merchandise. This is a total loss, but the ship may be saved. No lives were lost.

Richard Clarence Tanner known as Dick Tanner aged 25 a shot shiner was stabbed to death at 3 AM Monday in a notorious negro hotel run by Prof Gilbert Carr on Third Street near the police HQ in Sloanx City.
