The annual Home Declamatory contest in the Akron High School assembly room drew solid crowds. On Wednesday the Oratorical and Dramatic classes competed with Karl Youngstrom winning in oratory and Elinor Paulson top in drama. Thursday featured the Humorous class, with Hazel Allen and Jivelyn Frieson taking first and second. Twenty two students participated, about one fifth of the enrollment, showing strong public speaking and school spirit. The Girls Glee club performed two numbers each evening under Miss Eldred.

The Sibley church holds 10 am Sunday school and morning worship with ten baptisms after the service. A New Year watch party and 7 30 waiting service are planned plus a baptism at close. Mid week service is Wednesday at 7 40 led by A MacMillan.
Immanuel Lutheran Church schedules a 6 am Christmas Day service with The Word Made Flesh. On Sunday December 27 there is Sunday school at 10 am, morning worship at 11, and a 7:30 pm program. An annual business meeting is set for Monday January 4 with Pastor Oscar Rohman. Miss Judith Countryman commends Plymouth County health work and urges entry in the rural school Health Crusade cup race.
